MSN and Skype

Well personally I love both of these technologies. I suppose I got MSN Messenger first a few years ago. I love being able to see when my friends are online especially the ones that live over seas who I don't get to see so often any more. Recently I have used Skype to have video calls with my family and friends and it brings them so much closer. The quality is great and it's especially excellent that I can call the UK for free and talk for as long as I want! Chatting online using MSN or Skype is so much quicker than using e-mails and waiting for messages to come back. These technologies make the world shrink! I have also used these when working from home to talk to colleagues and when working from a different campus. These are great tools.

Library Thing

Well this week has been a bundle of fun playing with "Generators" and generating all sorts of things. I have added some of my children's book collection to Library Thing and generated a link button etc for this on the right hand side of this blog. Personally I was disappointed that I couldn't catalogue my DVD collection as that is what I really need to keep a track of. It would be most useful to be able to look up my Library Thing on my mobile phone when I'm in the Warehouse trying to remember if I already have a particular DVD title - alas I was only able to add books this time. If I was smart enough I would start up a DVD Library Thing myself!!

Jacky Face drawing

Jacky Face drawing, originally uploaded by JackyDZ.

Way cool. Here I am asleep.......................

Hey check this out. I went to Dumpr here www.dumpr.net/sketch.php and was able to generate this line drawing from a photo. Pretty cool. I got this off the Generator Blog generatorblog.blogspot.com/ There are loads of cool things you are able to do on this blog such as generate slogans and names, buttons and scratch messages. The blog goes on forever.. You can also tattoo your back. Perhaps Donna would like to try her celtic design through this before she gets it done?!

Views on Flickr

Well I've been playing about for a few hours now! Flickr is great. I think it will be very useful for sharing personal photos with my family and friends of what I've been playing with and what my favourite sleeping positions are. If you scroll down and look to the right you will see my "badge" with lots of photos of me and my owners. I like the idea of Flickr groups as everyone could contribute to the UCOL library ones and keep adding new stuff. One thing that is starting to bother me is the number of logins and passwords I need for all these services. I wonder how my small brain will be able to remember them all. It makes me very tired ........................

Trading Card

Louise and Connor

Well doesn't Connor remind you of Wallace from Wallce and Grommit?! A big thanks to him for helping me with the dishes on Friday so I could go home on time - even if I did have to pay him! See he believes every word Louise says as he insisted it was tradition to wear the tea cosy on his head while drying the dishes - I didn't tell him otherwise!! Go Connor - will keep you on you gorgeous ginger you!!

JackyZ Web 2.0

Hi there

Well I've seen you all doing cool stuff on your blogs so thought I would give it a go too. I think Web 2.0 has great potential for libraries and am looking forward to thinking about how UCOL can put some of the Web 2.0 technologies into action.

Miaow for now.
